Gaining an opportunity as a researcher through WISE-SSS

Two reasons for choosing WISE-SSS

My research field is in millimeter-wave band communication, and I work on the theme of automatic driving. For the future, it is indispensable to have a large-capacity communication method. In automatic driving, it is also crucial to ensure a smooth communication, and I think it is an important research theme for the goal of achieving a super-smart society.
After I completed my master’s degree in China, I came to Japan in 2019 to study at the Sakaguchi Lab, which had a worldwide reputation in the field of automatic driving. When my supervisor, Professor Sakaguchi, advised me on WISE-SSS, I immediately decided to join the program since it enabled exchanges with various companies and research institutes as well as allowed researchers to get to know each other. I felt that these activities would enhance my experience as a researcher. Another advantage of this program was that I could receive financial support such as a scholarship or a grant. I think this is very important for students in master’s or doctor’s degrees.

Experience in WISE-SSS is a lifetime treasure

After I joined the SSS Matching Workshop in November 2019, collaborative research with DENSO was realized. The research theme was V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure), and we worked for two years from April 2020 on the subject of how to connect the automobile and infrastructure by means of communication. As a result of such research being recognized, I was hired by the Sony Group to start working from this April.
The WISE-SSS program was an absolutely wonderful experience that opened my horizon. Through the collaborative research and off-campus internship, I got to know various companies and research institutes as well as engineers. These encounters are my lifetime treasure.
