Cultivating a wide range of knowledge through diverse programs

Connecting students and companies through the SSS Matching Workshop

After two master’s degrees and seven years of working experience, I engaged in healthcare research at Tokyo Tech’s Graduate Studies in Industrial Engineering and Economics, Department of Industrial Engineering and Economics, School of Engineering. The moment when I saw the WISE-SSS program, I thought it was very interesting and I immediately decided to join it.
For instance, there is a matching workshop program that connects students and companies. It is a great opportunity for researchers to explore ways to make use of one’s research in society through collaboration with various companies and organizations. In my case, it did not lead to collaborative research or joint development, but it was very meaningful for me to attend the matching workshop. In my research field, it is indispensable to receive questions and comments on my research, and to get to know where people’s interest lies.

A wide variety of classes for all fields

One of the features of WISE-SSS is that it enables learning from many different fields. From state-of-the-art technologies such as quantum mechanics, information science, and medical engineering, to solution design and leadership, they offer us a wide variety of classes. I took many classes in diverse fields, which helped to brush-up my knowledge from before, and to broaden my horizon. Even if they seem not to be directly related to your current research, knowing the methodologies and ways of thinking will surely help you in different scenes in the future.
I will now go back to Brazil, and I hope to work on activities that contribute to the futures of both Japan and Brazil.
